Well it has been a very long
time since I've update the website......so here it is. Let me
know what you think via email or our facebook page. P31R has
been going well with the engine starting first time every time.
Currently the car is up on the jack stands again, now awaiting
coilovers, tie rods, rack ends, brake discs and pads. While it
is up on stands I'll chuck on the r33 booster I've got. Worked
out the other day I need just under $5000 to get to be able to
go racing, which is suspension brakes, clutch, wheels and tyres.
So donations are always accepted. I've also had some second hand
trailer tyres put on my old 14inch wheels and they spin pretty
good, also gave the car an old 80's Japanese look.
11th June 2011
Since the 26th April 2011 the engine has
been running in P31R. I had a fair few problems getting the
engine running. From re-doing the timing about 4 times, having
only a few litres of fuel in the cell and also having 2 flat
batteries and about 4hours, the car started and it was LOUD. A
2.5inch straight through exhaust with no mufflers or resonators
at all, makes the RB30e bark LOUD. I also found that my welding
fix to the extractors didn't close up all the pin holes where
the pipes join, so exhaust fix was applied, no leaks now. Filled
up and bled the power steering, topped up the coolant, put the
new clutch slave in and bled it. Also noticed that with the
clutch down to the bolts, the wheels spin when in
neutral.....haha. I've also put in the standard dash gauges to
see what revs and oil pressure the engine is getting. But alas
the standard gauges are absolute crap and either don't move at
all, or they are too slow to move. So I'm going to need to buy
some aftermarket gauges, or even a whole new ecu and racepak
dash (dreamin'). Since the car has been on the ground and going
under its own power, i've replaced the front castor rod bushes,
all the spark plug leads and the wheels a few times haha. At the
start of June was my birthday, so I decided it was going to be a
good day for race car burnouts, so i pulled the car out of the
shed and put another 5 litres of fuel in the cell, put some old
steel rims and tyres on the back and did a few burnouts. Thought
the brakes all need replacing with all the R32 stuff I've got,
as the car would not sit on the spot and smoke the tyres. So
check out the P31R page for pics and vids.
4th March 2011
Well we're well into 2011 and not much has
been happening lately. P31R now has a Bosch 044 external fuel
pump, which I'm half way through installing in some custom dodgy
brackets. All the fuel line fittings are awaiting the fuel cell
and fuel pump to be finally bolted down, then I'll buy some fuel
hose, then its back onto the electrical wiring side of the car.
I still need to buy some exhaust manifold studs and a new
battery. Then hopefully in a few months from now, I'll be able
to have the car running and driveable for the first time in 2
years. I've also got the aluminium sheet panel over the back
seat and parcel shelf ready to be bolted down. Time and
motivation have proven to be in short supply these days, but
hopefully I'll spend a bit more time in the shed than at work.
So until next time, send some time and money :)
