31st July 2010 - Yesterday
I spent some more money and bought another cylinder of argon gas
for my TIG welder, I also bought some new tips to go on my TIG
torch. While I was at the welding shop I enquired if my
weldskill 130 would be able to weld aluminium as its only a DC
TIG, and unfortunately it won't weld aluminium. So now I'll have
to pop rivet all my aluminium pieces together. I made up the
jugs for the aluminium to go where the rear seat used to be, as
per CAMS specs. The pollution gear for the fuel system is now
removed, along with a few brackets under the car that aren't
needed anymore. I've sealed the area where the new fuel cell
will be going, so next weekend I should be able to paint. So
pics have been uploaded to the P31R page.
23rd July 2010 - Today I
spent some money and bought a sheet of 2.5mm aluminium which
I'll be using as a barrier between where the rear seat was and
the boot. I also want to build my new dash out the alu plate.
But my dad just told me I may not be able to weld alu with my
little tig. So will have to ring the welding place and find out
for sure.
